I should say its just a coincidence that I was watching CNBCTV 18 today morning having coffee and this thought stuck me, the focus of the news was the upcoming budget session and our own FM Pranab Mukherjee was the man in action , I thought for a moment why are we so obsessed with budget sessions , there have been many in the past , we never care for our five year plans or any other such important policies like CMP but y budget.As a student of Economics I have known some of the flaws of the budget system but even then we pay so much attention to this routine event that happens every year and more or less disappoints every one .
Then I thought may be we are habituated , we know a few things are going to happen for certain, but we anticipate and speculate about them.For media its their business but for common man such few things give some hope, joy and few give disappointment.So here I have listed a 10 such things which we all know are going to happen(yes , they will happen) but we always discuss them.Here is the list
1. Sachins next century
The God has scored 93(may not be the exact no) till now , but we wait for the next one , It gives us a sense of joy , happiness , satisfaction every time he scores a century.We forget our worries for that moment , we enjoy his success , everyone knows no one can emulate him , I think we are fortunate ,the few chosen ones to see him play and we thank him for all the happy moments that he has given us in our troubled lives.Long Live Sachin , we cannot see you retire .
2.The budget
As I said before there have been many in the past , there will be many in the future , Common man doesn't know how it impacts him but he discusses about it , its the most awaited event of the year.
3.Rains
Even the Met dept cant do much about these , they speculate , in turn we speculate ,as the temp rises we give ourselves some respite by saying its gonna rain soon .If we stop discussing rains , most of the old men in the parks will not have a topic to talk about.
4.Power cuts
We know in summer we have power cuts but we wait for that one govt announcement (even though there are many unofficial power cuts), we use our experience to say the timings but we are never right .
5.Bal Thackreys next target
Every day the media waits for Balasahebs editorial in Samna for the next celebrity target , M F Hussain , SRK, Taslima Nasreen , Sachin ,the list is endless but we know the old man doesnt care he will use his tongue to malign some one.
6.Rakhi Sawants next controversy
Its out of my scope to talk about this , its better that media stops giving her attention and highlights some real issues rather than focussing on her implants and husbands.
7.Next episode of Ekta Kapoors Soap opera
This is a never ending wait , there was kyunki in the past , I donno wat it is now , but the wait is same how many generations will the serial go , who will come back alive , the story is same only the actors change.
8.New Controversy because of IPL
Security was the main issue first , then it was other boards , then it was bcoz of telangana and now I hear it is environment , some NGO wants the IPL matches to have day matches to save power , I think now Lalit Modi will use his power against the NGO
9.Next Set of Reservation in Parliament/Institution
This one is a bit sensitive but illogical , we have reservations every where now even in parliament I think now its the time to resrve a few things where we dont have reservation
10.Next biggest scam
Hawala, Harshad Mehta , Ketan Parekh , Telgi, Satyam , Madhu koda ...............the list goen on , who is the next one.
So these were the ten things that i think keep us engaged , may be I should thank these ppl for keeping me busy .
