Today when I returned from the mall after buying groceries for the week ahead and was unpacking them a vivid memory from my childhood flashed in my mind . I remember those days when I used to accompany my Mom to the near by "kirana" store every month to buy groceries. The prospect of getting a cadbury choclate or a new variety of biscuit used to lure me always and the effort seemed thoroughly rewarding . The local Kirana guy never had so many varieties but a free choclate from the "Kirana Uncle" was always satisfying. Now I have all the freedom and money to buy all that I want but the weekend visit to mall never excites me.
I remember those days in May 2005 when we used to listen songs on a walk man that had speakers while preparing for comprees .The same cassette of Swades and Veer Zaara repeated over and over till it got corrupted .Going further back by 3 -4 years I remember recording a cassette in tape recorder using the record option and asking every one in the room to be silent till the recording is done .Fast forward to present and we have giga bytes of mp3's on our hard disks which we never listen to . I always face this problem of plenty and eventually tune in to radio unable to decide what to listen to.Some times it makes me wonder how our prized possessions once up on a time lose their importance in our lives and we move on .
Watching the DD scene in ZNMD reminded me of those days when we used to wait for a newly flopped movie to be screened on DD and I used to watch it just because it was new . It dint matter to me how crappy it was , there were no reviews , no opinions just the pleasure of watching a new movie on TV .
I know that most of you might have had such memories, just sit back and think about them, it will make you feel good .
Ya , reading the whole post you might think I sound a little old but I blame it on technology which has made a 25 yr old say "woh din hi kuch aur the , hamare zamane mein aisa hota tha".
PS: Title inspired by a show on Vivid Bharti , All India Radio

"woh din hi kuch aur the , hamare zamane mein aisa hota tha" - Very True.. we(Cousins) often discuss these changes and the ways we used to have fun..after a couple of our comparisons,my mom and her siblings start talking about their memories... its such a good feeling to dig into the past :-) Good work Miner
